Child's Play, 2018

Porcelain and white stoneware

This body of work is a reflection of the ability to experiment with unique textures and challenging the process of throwing larger vessels. I aimed to explore and expand upon the application of glaze to create immense variation within a single vessel referencing the initial components of my work, The Crater 2018, previously exhibited at the Gosford Ceramic Prize of November 2018.

The consideration into the dynamic energy between the playful and innocent rubber duck and the traditionally shaped vessel in combination is a humorous comment on the nostalgia presented to both childhood and the glorified objects within a museum context. The engagement between the distorted vessels and the audience should be playful and elegant as the pieces come together in a light-hearted harmony.
