Apparent Melting, 2017

Within Apparent Melting Series, the rubber duck is a symbolic representation of our initial childhood innocence within society. The graphic melting of the fragile duck is soon destroyed by the thick, black, metallic glaze that overwhelms the pieces in a moon phase like structure. Our innocence tainted. The focalisation of this project was to define the catalyst of transition between the innocence of childhood and adulthood through the hypersexualised influence of contemporary and post-modern culture. This blurred space between the phases is further challenged in the natural dichotomy between an innocent childhood bath and sexual fetishes within shower play, rubber, wax and leather.
